Update on Ubunye Activities

Mar 6th, 2010 by duncan | 0

Ubunye has been very busy since the start of this year.  Some of the highlights are mentioned below.

During the University Orientation week, the Ubunye projects were extremely motivated an active and the committee members had a lot of fun running around Jammie Plaza making a noise and convincing students to volunteer.  The Ubunye projects recruited a total of 550 students, all exceeding their recruitment targets.

All the projects have begun their sessions for the year.  Although there have been some of the usual problems associated with the start of a new year, most workshops are now up and running.  The committee members from various projects have been very hard at work to ensure everything happens as it is supposed to happen, and we’re sure their efforts are very much appreciated by the volunteers.

If you are still interested in volunteering with us, there might still be space for you.  The Media School and TeachOut, especially, are looking for volunteers with cars who would be able to transport themselves and 3 to 4 other students to some of their smaller workshops.   If you’re interested, send us an email at info [at] ubunye [dot] org [dot] za.

Ubunye will also be holding its annual AGM on 15 March at 17:00 in LS2B.  All volunteers are welcome to attend, but should send an email to agm [at] ubunye [dot] org [dot] za to confirm their attendance.
